What is ADHD?
ADHD, or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects a person’s ability to focus, manage impulses, and regulate activity levels. It often shows up in childhood and can impact school performance, relationships, and everyday tasks—but it doesn’t define who a child is.
At Sunshine Family Wellness, we view ADHD through a compassionate and strengths-based lens, recognizing that many young people with ADHD are creative, curious, and full of potential. With the right understanding, tools, and support, children and families can learn to navigate the challenges of ADHD while celebrating the unique gifts it can bring.

FAQs
What is ADHD testing?
ADHD testing involves a series of assessments and evaluations to determine whether your child has ADHD. It typically includes questionnaires, behavioral observations, and discussions about your child’s history, school performance, and home life.
How is the testing process structured?
The testing process typically includes three sessions: the first for gathering information, the second for completing assessments, and the third to review results and discuss treatment recommendations.
What types of tests will be used?

What is the cost?
The cost is $210 per assessment session, $150 for each school meeting (such as ARD or 504 support), and $150 per ADHD-focused therapy session moving forward
What happens if my child is diagnosed with ADHD?
We will discuss the results with you and provide recommendations for treatment. This may include therapy, school accommodations, and strategies to support your child at home.
Are virtual sessions available for assessments
Yes, virtual sessions are available for children ages 11 and up. This includes both assessment appointments and ongoing ADHD-focused therapy, providing flexibility and convenience for busy families.
Can I receive a copy of the results?
Yes, a full written assessment report detailing the results and recommendations can be provided for a fee of $250. This document will help you understand the findings and next steps in managing your child’s care.
What if my child doesn't have ADHD?
If your child is not diagnosed with ADHD, we will discuss alternative explanations for the challenges they are facing and recommend other forms of support, whether that’s therapy, counseling, or academic interventions.

Play Therapy

ADHD-Focused Therapy for children Ages 5-10
In ADHD-focused play therapy, children develop emotional awareness, impulse control, and problem-solving skills through structured play activities. Over time, parents often notice fewer emotional outbursts, better transitions between tasks, and more cooperative behavior at home and school. Therapy also helps children build confidence and learn how to express their emotions appropriately. Parents receive ongoing support to implement strategies at home, creating structure, setting clear expectations, and fostering positive behavior.
Adolescents
Preteens and Teens Ages 11-17
In ADHD-focused talk therapy, adolescents work on building self-awareness, improving time management, and developing effective coping strategies for the challenges they face. Over time, parents typically see improved communication, greater accountability, and more consistent follow-through on tasks such as schoolwork and household responsibilities. Therapy also provides tools to manage stress, peer relationships, and emotional ups and downs. Parents are equipped with strategies to support their teen’s growing independence while maintaining a strong, supportive relationship.
